About

Welcome to MAYA, my first creator owned comicseries.

If you don’t know me: My name is Chris Noeth and I’m the art director at Rough Sea Games. I’ve been working in the game industry since 1999 and because I love comics and movies I have worked on Tales From The Crypt comics for Papercutz and have drawn two issues of the upcoming series It Came From Beneath The Sea… Again! for Bluewater Productions (which will be out in 2010). You already can find five of my pages from this comic on the Sony DVD to It Came From Beneath The Sea, the classic horror movie from the year 1955. The comic is the sequel to this Ray Harryhausen movie.

So what is MAYA?
MAYA is the name of a girl, the main character in my story, and the title of the whole series. The comic is about this girl who has… oh… I don’t think I can really give too many details yet. You will have to read it for yourself and I don’t want to spoil anything here.

Just let me explain what type of story you can read here: MAYA is a science fiction story with superhero elements. The first thing you will notice in the book is that everything ‘feels’ like a book for children or a fantasy story, but believe me when I tell you this comic is a cinematic science fiction story with a lot of action… so don’t quit reading! ;)

MAYA is the type of comic I like… so I’m writing and drawing it… and hoping you will enjoy it, too.

Okay… you want more details? Here is the info www.ComicRelated.com wrote about MAYA… and more info on the story of MAYA:

In December 2009, comic creator Chris Noeth debuts his first creator owned comic series, Maya, in the form of a webcomic.

Noeth is no stranger to creating comics, however, as he is the artist on Tales From The Crypt (Papercutz), and It Came From Beneath The Sea… Again (Bluewater Productions). He is also the art director for Rough Sea Games.

Maya is a science-fiction action drama with some horror elements, but is not a horror story. Taking a page from director James Cameron’s book, Maya has strong storytelling and characterization, lots of action and drama, and the characters feel real.

The story begins in the past, but largely takes place in the not so distant future in which Maya is a 22 year old girl with special powers. She must cope with this fact in a world she doesn’t really know. Her best friend is a talking toy teddy bear she got when she was a kid. Other important characters include Maya’s father, Dr. Thomas Krueger, a bio-tech scientist; Nathan, an old man living alone in the Rocky Mountains with his dog Dandy; and Jack, an albino assassin sent after Maya to retrieve something her father stole from a huge organization.

The concept for Maya is based on a project Noeth developed over ten years ago called The End. The idea came from a dream he had as he saw vivid images in his sleep and felt compelled to write a story to make sense of these images. Over time, Maya developed into a complex concept with a beginning and an end.

Maya will start as a three-issue story arc.
